Shipmates... Lee and I are about ready to send out the reunion registration forms for the October event. Lee has worked very hard to put together an agenda that accomodates all tastes and activities. I personally want to thank Dennis Urffer for his contribution in taking over the lead role with the fishing excursion. My passion for golf exceeds my desire to "sail the 'bounding main" so I will set up the golf outing at Magnolia Grove - one of the many Robert Trent Jones venues on the Alabama Jones Golf trail. We have been in contact with Tom Bowser who is the lead volunteer aboard the USS Drum at the USS Alabam Battleship Memorial Park. Tom has been instrumental in restoring the Drum and welcomes all the old smoke boat sailors to join him during tour hours. Those of us who will be arriving early plan to spend some time aboard Drum relating our memories and providing expertise for the tourists. If you plan on an early arrival, please join the fun aboard Drum and help Tom enlighten those who are too young to remember the role the old smoke boats played in preserving their freedom. By contacting Tom, we will get free admission to the Park to help with the tours. See ya'll in Mobile this fall... Steve Hunt...
